Each week, Westpointe Kids volunteers help us in our mission of helping kids and families know Jesus Christ personally and carry on His ministry.

We are an awesome Team of volunteers who know and understand how important each child is to God.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Our Vision: To Refine the Message, Align Leaders, Engage Every Parent, Elevate Community, & Influence Service

Becoming a Kids Ministry Volunteer

Step 1: Find which area you want to serve in
There are many areas to serve. You can learn more about our various opportunities below. For more information, please email Kid's Ministries.

Step 2: Sign Up to Serve
If you are interested in joining our team, please fill out the volunteer form above. Select “Westpointe Kids” as your area of ministry, and select the specific area you would like to volunteer in. After you submit the form, we will get in touch with next steps.

Step 3: Application and Screening
In addition to having attended Westpointe Community Church for a minimum of 6 months, all of our volunteers complete an application and screening process. This includes an interview, reference checks and for anyone over the age of 17, a criminal record check.

Step 4: Start Serving
Once you have completed screening and training you will start volunteering with Westpointe Kids. We are so grateful to our wonderful team of volunteers who help each week!

We are currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:

Sundays:
  • Kids Min Greeter *New*
    • As a greeter, we need you to welcome kids at the door with a big smile and be on the lookout for new families who need help finding their way around. You may be helping them with a registration or check-in. You win when kids feel welcomed and cared for as soon as they walk through the doors so they'll be more likely to connect with others in a small group. A friendly smile and desire to welcome others is what is needed!
  • Teacher
    • As part of our Teach Team you will be instrumental in presenting the gospel; training children to know, obey, and defend God's Word; and encourage them to become conformed to the image of Christ. You will teach from Answers in Genesis ABC Curriculum lesson plans and resources. Additional training will be provided during the year. As Teacher, you will be in a class team with a Teacher's Assistant, and Junior Teacher, whom you will mentor and encourage leadership from. Plan on teaching 12-24 weeks, and mentoring another teacher for 12 weeks. Membership is required.
  • Teacher Assistant
    • As a Teacher's Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the teacher and building relationships with the children. Your focus will be on maintaining order and organization, while following the lead of the teacher. Getting to know each child individually - their name, situation, and abilities - is crucial for them to experience unconditional love and acceptance from our ministry. You'll work as part of a team with a teacher and a junior teacher, receiving mentorship and hands-on training to develop your leadership skills and teaching confidence. By the end of the year, you'll have had the opportunity to teach 4-12 lessons under the teacher's supervision.
  • Junior Teacher *New*
    • As a Jr Youth Teacher you will work in partnership with an adult Teacher: presenting the gospel, training children, encouraging them. You'll be having a ton of fun, but will also grow and gain valuable experience of your own. You'll be a key part of the classroom... the joy you will gain from getting to know the kids and seeing their faces light up will make you eager to see them and be part of their spiritual walk! Most weeks you will assist but you will be mentored to develop leadership and teaching skills of your own: eventually teaching parts of the class and developing onfidence and skills to teach for His purpose.
  • Check Ins Leader
    • You are one of the first smiling faces people see in our Kids Ministry! In addition to being a role model, you will set up kiosks & manage the main desk. You will ensure all kids and volunteers are checked in, and that they all have name labels.
This role requires an organized individual at ease with computers - and who can interact easily with people. Complete training provided.
  • Age 1-2 Helpers
    • As a "Friends" Helper (age 1-2) you get to play! You'll be supporting the spiritual growth of families by caring for and entertaining their young children, enabling parents to attend service. A fun-loving and empathetic personality is needed, as you offer and provide support for the emotional, physical, and social needs of these little ones.
  • Age 1-2 Jr Helpers *New*
    • As a "Friends" Jr. Helper you get to play! You will coordinate a group of youth to guide them each week to lead songs, perform skits, direct games, and most importantly, coach them to grow as young leaders and develop a servant's heart. This is a mentorship role that will involve occasional Sundays, but primarily 'outside' service times.
  • Kids Min Student Leadership Team *New*
    • Music, games or drama, anyone? We've got an awesome opportunity for you - become part of our new team in Kids Min and have a blast! You'll get to lead songs, teach song actions, perform skits and develop your own skills as young leaders. Share the gospel in a fun way as you become a Christ-like example for the little humans. • Kids Min Missions Co-ordinator *New*
    • You will help show children that their actions can make a difference—both at home and around the world. You will help guide the children in understanding needs both domestically and internationally, as well as teaching them how to evaluate which causes are most worthy of their gifts. We need you to devise a fun and interactive way for the children to bring offerings weekly. By teaching them how to give, we can help instill the importance of charitable giving from a young age.
  • Service Manager *New*
    • As Service Manager for Westpointe Kids, your main responsibility is ensuring the smooth operation of the Sunday program. This includes arriving 15-30 minutes before the service to review the plan and assign volunteers. You will unlock classrooms and ensure all volunteers are present and checked in. If there are unexpected absences, you'll assess the need for substitutes or reassigning volunteers. Familiarity with Plan to Protect guidelines is crucial.
This position is ideal for organized individuals who excel in managing people, making quick decisions, and working independently.
  • Tech/Sound
    • Assist in the setup and operation of technology, including computer, projector and sound equipment, for the large group component of Westpointe Kid's Sunday School program. This involves ensuring all devices are properly connected, troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise, and providing support to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for the children.
  • Special Needs "Buddy" *New*
    • By becoming a "Buddy," you have the opportunity to bring joy and support to families and caregivers. Your role is to accompany a child with special needs during services, fostering a meaningful friendship along the way. Should you be unable to attend as scheduled, please inform your Service Manager promptly so that alternative arrangements can be made for the child. Prior to Sunday morning, keep the child in your thoughts and prayers. Additionally, your valuable feedback is encouraged to enhance the impact of our ministry. Together, let's make a positive difference.
Flexible, During the Week:
  • Resource Room Manager *New*
    • Do you thrive on organization, lists, tidiness? Are label makers your friend? Boy, do we have the role for you! You'll be integral in helping Westpointe Kids establish a well-stocked, organized Teacher Resource Room. You will be able to serve at anytime during the week convenient to you.
  • Ministry Prep *New*
    • So much goes on behind the scenes! Do you enjoy tasks like crafting, prepping supplies, assembling simple special event projects? Maybe you love to be a part of something big, but you don't particularly love being in the busy throes of Kids Min? Maybe your schedule doesn't allow you to join us on Sundays? Serving in ministry prep might be just your thing - come in and help during the week with some Kids Min tasks, or maybe even take it home to work on... this is one of our most flexible - yet vital - opportunities.
  • Kids Min Communications *New*
    • Do you have marketing and social media experience, as well as knowledge of church operations? This is an exciting role suitable for somebody who is creative and has excellent written communication skills. You will help develop the Kids Ministry online presence by posting curated content that promotes our mission, values, events and activities. This includes developing messaging strategies for email newsletters, social media posts and other related tasks.
